At Ruby Light Portraits, I offer family photography in my studio in Devon, and on location around Devon and Cornwall. Every session is designed with you at the heart of it. Whether you choose a cosy studio session or an outdoor adventure in the wild beauty of Devon, this is your opportunity to press pause and create lasting memories. Mums are always at the centre of everything I do. I have flattering wardrobe options, styling guidance, and the option of a professional makeover to help you feel your best. These sessions are perfect for families with babies from around 7 months (sitting unaided) through to teens, and can be tailored for the whole family, or just a special āMummy & Meā experience.

In-Studio Sessions
If you prefer a calm, styled setting, the studio offers a relaxed and comfortable environment where we focus entirely on you and your family. When you arrive, weāll choose your favourite dresses from the wardrobe (which includes options for mums, girls, and boys), and if you’ve booked a makeover, youāll be introduced to your artist to create the perfect look. While you’re being pampered, Iāll begin photographing your children individually and together, ensuring everyone feels relaxed and included.
Your shoot is completely guided, so you don’t need to worry about posing! Iāll gently direct you into flattering positions and capture the natural connections and spontaneous moments that unfold between you. Sessions are always tailored to the ages and personalities of your children to keep things fun and relaxed.
Outdoor Sessions
If your family loves the great outdoors, a location session might be the perfect fit. From woodland walks to wonderful beaches, weāll choose a setting that suits you. These lifestyle sessions are more relaxed and less posed, with gentle direction to keep things natural while still creating polished images.
Outdoor photography in Devon and Cornwall is available year-round, though I recommend skipping my dresses in cooler months and dressing warmly in your own coordinated outfits (Iāll help with styling tips!). Favourite local locations include Shaugh Prior Bridge and Tregantle Beach, and we usually shoot 1ā2 hours before sunset for the most flattering light. If the weather isnāt ideal, weāll simply reschedule to make sure everythingās just right.
After your session, youāll be invited to a personal viewing where youāll see your images for the first time and choose your favourites. I offer a range of digital and printed collections, including heirloom wall art that beautifully preserves your memories.

A Ā£99 non-refundable retainer is required within 24 hours of booking to secure your date in the diary. This will be deducted from your total (For example if you choose the Ā£399 package there will be Ā£300 remaining to pay) A minimum order of Ā£299 is required, there is no obligation to purchase any images if you donāt want to. I do not charge a separate session fee, the photoshoot is included in the package.Ā
The HMUA fee is Ā£80 and separate to the packages above, a Ā£40 deposit of this is required at the time of booking, the rest payable on the day. Their fee includes Hair as well as Make-Up.
